We’ve been testing a diskless (SAN attached) dedicated server / web hosting appliance, and following better-than-expected results on testing, we’re ready to roll out a small number of servers for customer use.

The server comes complete with an Operating System, Control Panel, web, SQL database, and email server software and hosting in the Sheffield Data Centre, from less than £10 per week!

Specifications as follows:

• Disk:  25GB SAN Attached (no local storage)
• Memory: 2GB
• Processor:  Dual-core Intel Atom 1.66GHz with HT (4 logical processors)
• OS:  Windows Web Server 2008 R2 x64
• IP Addresses:  2 public
• Bandwidth:  1TB per month, burst up-to 50Mbit
• Software:  IIS7.5 (web server), WebsitePanel (control panel), MailEnable (email server), SQL 2008 R2 Workgroup (database)
• DNS:  Access to our dns1 and dns2 servers to host your zones
• rDNS:  Server name reverse DNS registered (for email server)
• Term:  6 month contract

All for just £43 per month (equivelent to £9.92 per week) + £40 setup fee

Upgrades:

• 2GB to 4GB memory:  £25 one-off
• Extra disk space:  £1 per 10GB per month
• Extra IP address:  £1.50 per month
• SSL Certificate:  £40 per year

Being SAN attached, in the event of a hardware problem, we can simply plug a new server into the switch and you’re back up and running without a rebuild!

We’re now able to offer DNS resolution and Reverse DNS services to all customers of HA Hosting, The Virtual Cloud, and the Sheffield Data Centre. 

DNS resolution is essential for all servers connecting to the Internet, and Reverse DNS is ideal for customers who need reverse lookup for email servers, as well as those who need to confirm “ownership” of IP addresses for firewalls and secure services.

DNS Resolution

We have two DNS servers for clients to use within their server or application to resolve external addresses, contact us for the address details.  These servers will only resolve external addresses from within our network, and are not accessible from the outside world – preventing DNS spoofing.

Reverse DNS

All HA Hosting / Sheffield Data Centre customers can now submit Reverse DNS requests to us by emailing support@hahosting.com – we endeavour to have all requests complete within 24 hours.

Reverse DNS is currently not available to Professional Web Hosting customers due to shared IP addresses, we aim to offer dedicated IP addresses for web hosting in the near future.  Our Web Hosting platform is undergoing an upgrade, with Windows Server 2008 IIS7 hosting with a new Control Panel due soon!!

After the Sheffield Data Centre opens on the 10th June, we’re offering all colocation customers free bandwidth until 2010.

Single server customers (rack server or tower server) will enjoy 1Mbit free bandwidth, and full rack customers will enjoy 5Mbit free bandwidth.

You get 1 IP address included with single servers, and up to 32 IP addresses with full racks.  If you need more IP addresses this is possible but may require justification to RIPE, if you can justify it you can have as many as you want!!

High Availability Hosting Limited are proud to announce the construction of a 25 rack hosting facility in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.  The Sheffield Data Centre will go live on Wednesday 10th June 2009 for customers wishing to colocate a server, a full rack, or outsource an existing IT suite to us.

Located in Holbrook, South East Sheffield (S20), we’re ideally located for easy access from the M1, A57 and Sheffield City Centre.  The Data Centre will have 1050U of usable rack space, and be able to host a mixture 900 physical and virtual servers at full capacity.
